Wildhammer Fact Checker is an iconic character in Blizzard history that has yet to be explored in Hearthstone. Similar to Raid Leader, Fire Bat, and Leeroy Jenkins, this card pays tribute to our fans by creating a cool and interesting take on them in the Warcraft universe.
This card plays around with the “ticking time bomb” mechanic, similar to Iron Juggernaut or White Eyes. Since Falstad has a clear and immediate impact on the board, he can cause a massive swing if drawn at the right time. The Fact Checker intentionally has a mid-level mana cost so it will be difficult for aggressive decks to use Falstad early in the game.
This will be an excellent card in midrange decks, especially those with attack-boosting cards or lots of draw power. If it proves to be too overpowered, we can remove the card draw mechanic from Falstad, or tweak his stats, but this will require playtesting.
Grand Apothecary Putress is a “gotcha” card that plays on the idea of laying a trap for your opponent. When Putress comes into play, you Discover a card from your opponent’s deck to hold the trap, or Blight, of your choice. Your opponent can see which minion has the Blight Battlecry when they draw it, but they don’t know which Blight effect it has. There will be a visual indication that the card is Blighted, e.g. a corrupted border with a tooltip that says “Careful, this minion carries a deadly disease!”
Putress is a card built to counter decks with a singular win condition. If you are lucky, you may discover the opponent’s Antonidas. Since they don’t know what the secret battlecry is, opponent’s will have to play around all the negative effect before they play it. They could also take a gamble and just play the minion right away. Putress can be used to deal with lockdown deck such as Exodia/Freeze Mage since Kingsblood Blight ignores Ice Block.
For the owner, Putress is fun because you can lay a trap for your opponent and plan several turns ahead. For the opponent, it can be fun to try and figure out which Blight the minion has. The damage values on the Blights can be tweaked if they end up being too powerful.
Common spells that I designed for various classes. The cards are meant to be easy for a new player to understand, and useful in a variety of situations and decks.
Of these, my favorite is Unquestioning Faith. The card puts a unique spin on the Mind Control mechanic by also applying a debuff to the minion. This is generally a downgrade, which is why it costs less, but occasionally the debuff will actually make the stolen minion stronger. It's up to players to find these special cases.
These cards only appear in Arena mode and play around with the drafting mechanic. Murgl Weaponsmith is a useful card to push an archetype that you're trying to build, while Burnished Bookie is an all-in gamble. Neither of these cards are collectible, and will only appear during drafts. They are Epic and Legendary, respectively, so the cards don't show up too often. Both effects can be quite strong, so they should feel like an exciting bonus.
For the Murgl Weaponsmith, there should be some kind of start of game fanfare to let the opponent know that the Murlocs will receive a buff.
